The powerhouse slugger has hit five home runs in six games, earning the title of the Yankees’ pinch-hit king, reaching base six times in his last seven plate appearances with two homers!

The Yankees stayed on the road facing the Rays, and once again their bullpen gave up a two-run lead in the ninth, pushing the game into extra innings. Giancarlo Stanton was called to pinch hit in the tenth and instantly smashed a two-run homer, leading the Yankees to a 6-4 victory and a five-game winning streak. Stanton has been phenomenal as a pinch hitter this season, reaching base six times in his last seven clutch at-bats and launching two home runs in the process.

Yesterday, the Yankees blasted nine home runs in a single game. Today, by the end of the top of the ninth, all three of their runs had come via home runs—Trent Grisham hit two and Austin Wells added a solo shot. The Yankees entered the bottom of the ninth up 3-1, but closer David Bednar issued a walk and gave up two hits, blowing the lead and sending the game to extra innings.

In the top of the tenth, the Yankees sent Stanton to pinch hit as their first batter, while the Rays brought in closer Pete Fairbanks. After a tense battle to a full count, Fairbanks threw his seventh pitch—a 96 mph inside four-seam fastball—which Stanton crushed over the left field wall. This two-run homer immediately put the Yankees ahead, and they held on for a narrow 6-4 win over the Rays. Prior to this game, the Yankees were 0-6 in road extra-inning contests this season, but thanks to Stanton’s clutch hit, they finally earned their first away extra-innings victory of the year.

Stanton has been on a tear in August, blasting five home runs in his last six games. Over 14 games, he’s racked up 16 hits, seven homers, and 17 RBIs, with an impressive .432 batting average. Additionally, in his last seven pinch-hit appearances for the Yankees this year, he’s delivered two home runs, a single, a double, and drawn two walks. Whether starting or coming off the bench late in games, Stanton has posed a significant threat to opposing pitchers all season long.
