Mike Trout's chase for the 400 home run milestone is currently paused.
Trout was originally named in the Los Angeles Angels' starting lineup today as the third batter and designated hitter, but was removed shortly before the game because of a skin infection. He is under daily observation.
Trout holds a .231 batting average with 20 home runs and 54 RBIs, needing just two more home runs to become the third player in Angels history to reach 400 home runs. Dave Winfield achieved this feat in 1991, and Vladimir Guerrero reached the milestone in 2009.
Lately, Trout has been struggling to find his rhythm at the plate. In August, he hit .214 over 84 at-bats with only one home run.
With Trout sidelined, the Angels shifted Joe Adell, originally slated to start in right field, to designated hitter, while Chris Taylor took over in right field.
