No-hitter broken again in the 9th inning as Shohei Ohtani contributes a hit and walk, helping the Dodgers defeat the Rockies.

The Los Angeles Dodgers hosted the Colorado Rockies for a three-game series. The Dodgers’ no-hit bid was spoiled again in the 9th inning, yet they managed to hold on and won 3-1, marking their first consecutive victories this September.

Two days ago, Yusei Yamamoto was just one out away from recording his first no-hitter in the major leagues during an away game against the Baltimore Orioles, but Jackson Holliday hit a home run to break the no-hitter and shutout bid. The Orioles then scored four runs in the bottom of the 9th to complete a 4-3 comeback, ending Yamamoto’s winning streak.

Today, the Dodgers started Tyler Glasnow, who had skipped his last start due to a back tightness. He pitched seven innings, striking out 11, walking twice, and allowing no hits. He only gave up one run in the top of the 2nd inning when Jordan Beck walked, stole second base, and later scored on two fly balls to the outfield.

In the top of the 6th inning, Freddie Freeman hit a double, which was the first hit of the game for either team. This double brought in the tying run, leveling the score at 1-1.

In the bottom of the 7th, with two outs, Mookie Betts delivered a crucial hit, driving in two runs and giving the Dodgers a 3-1 lead.

In the top of the 8th inning, the Dodgers brought in Blake Treinen to pitch, who retired the side in order.

With just three outs away from a no-hitter, the Dodgers brought in closer Tanner Scott in the top of the 9th. However, he allowed a double to the first batter, Ryan Ritter, breaking up the no-hit bid. Fortunately, Scott kept the opposing team from scoring, and the Dodgers won the game 3-1. Tyler Glasnow earned his second win of the season (2-3), while Tanner Scott recorded his 21st save.

Shohei Ohtani went 1-for-3 with a run scored, two strikeouts, and one walk in this game.
