The Toronto Blue Jays fought desperately to defeat the Seattle Mariners, pushing the series to a decisive Game 7.

In the sixth game of the MLB American League Championship Series, the Toronto Blue Jays, playing with their backs against the wall, took advantage of Seattle Mariners’ mistakes by delivering clutch hits and maintaining impenetrable defense to hold off scoring threats, securing a 6-2 victory and extending the series to a decisive seventh game.

With no room for error, the Blue Jays started aggressively; in the bottom of the second, Daulton Varsho singled and advanced to second on an outfielder’s misplay. Ernie Clement reached base due to a third baseman’s error, and Addison Barger followed with a timely fly ball to open the scoring. Isiah Kiner-Falefa also contributed, pushing the score to 2-0.

The Mariners responded immediately in the next half-inning, with J.P. Crawford drawing a walk, Leo Rivas hitting a single, and Julio Rodríguez earning a walk to load the bases. However, Cal Raleigh missed the opportunity with a double play that abruptly ended the threat.

Stopping the Mariners’ rally, the Blue Jays extended their lead in the bottom of the third after two outs. Clement smashed a triple that nearly cleared the fence, followed by Barger hitting a two-run home run, increasing the Blue Jays’ advantage to four runs.

In the top of the fourth, the Mariners loaded the bases after Eugenio Suárez patiently earned a walk, but Crawford again hit into a double play, squandering another chance to score.

The Blue Jays’ power showed again in the bottom of the fifth, as star slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. capitalized on a wild pitch with a solo home run, making it 5-0. This homer was Guerrero’s sixth in this postseason, tying the franchise record.

After repeatedly missing scoring chances, the Mariners finally broke through in the top of the sixth with Josh Naylor’s solo homer. Following that, Randy Arozarena singled, Eugenio Suárez added a smart hit, and Arozarena scored on the play, narrowing the gap to 5-2.

In the bottom of the seventh, Guerrero reached on a hit-by-pitch, and Alejandro Kirk followed with a single, putting runners on first and second. Guerrero then advanced to third on a wild pitch, and when Mariners catcher Raleigh’s throw missed the runner and resulted in an error, Guerrero scored the sixth run for the Blue Jays.

Finally, Blue Jays’ closer Jeff Hoffman secured six outs across the eighth and ninth innings, locking down the victory. The game ended 6-2, successfully extending the series to a winner-take-all Game 7.
