Kazuma Okamoto appeared at the press conference wearing the Toronto Blue Jays' number 7 jersey and expressed his willingness to compete again in the World Baseball Classic.

Kazuma Okamoto, who secured a four-year, $60 million deal via the posting system to move from Japan's Yomiuri Giants to the Toronto Blue Jays during the offseason, officially appeared at the Blue Jays' press conference today (the 7th), wearing the number 7 jersey. Regarding the upcoming World Baseball Classic (WBC) in March, Okamoto clearly stated his willingness to don the Samurai Japan uniform.

According to Japanese media Sports Hochi, Okamoto gave a clear answer about participating in the Classic: "I definitely have the intention to wear the Japanese national team jersey; it is a great honor, and I have been preparing for it."

Okamoto further explained that he understands the importance of spring training in his rookie year but added, "From the past until now, I have always held the desire to wear the Japanese team uniform." He emphasized, "Personally, I want to participate. However, nothing has been finalized yet; official invitations and related discussions are expected to happen soon."

Okamoto participated in the last Classic and hit a home run in the final against the United States, contributing two home runs throughout the tournament, which helped fans worldwide remember the name "Kazuma Okamoto." Besides Okamoto, Munetaka Murakami, who recently joined the Chicago White Sox, has also expressed his willingness to represent Japan, while Tatsuya Imai, signed with the Houston Astros, has stated he will not participate in this Classic.

In the Classic, Japan is in Group C along with South Korea, the Czech Republic, Australia, and Chinese Taipei, competing together for two spots to advance to the next round.
