Philadelphia Phillies star pitcher Aaron Nola has confirmed he will represent Italy in the World Baseball Classic.

Phillies manager Rob Thomson revealed that ace starter Aaron Nola will be representing Italy in the upcoming World Baseball Classic (WBC).

Now 32 years old, Nola has spent 11 seasons with the Phillies, but last year he was limited to just 17 appearances due to a right ankle injury, throwing 94.1 innings with 97 strikeouts, finishing with a 5-10 record and a 6.01 ERA.

With this, the Phillies now have ten players confirmed for this Classic, including Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, Brad Keller, Garrett Stubbs, Taijuan Walker, Alan Rangel, José Alvarado, Edmundo Sosa, and Johan Rojas.

These players are expected to join the team for spring training initially, then leave to join their national teams as the tournament approaches. Major League Baseball is anticipated to officially allow players to join their national teams for preparation in mid to late February.
