The Dodgers acquired hard-throwing right-hander Halvorsen from the Rockies to strengthen their bullpen depth.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have bolstered their bullpen with a promising fresh arm. Today, the team announced they acquired right-handed pitcher Seth Halvorsen from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for two minor league players: outfielder Landyn Vidourek (previously ranked as the Dodgers' No. 25 prospect) and right-handed pitcher Nick Frasso.

Halvorsen, 26, has been on the 15-day injured list since July 4 due to right shoulder inflammation. He began a rehab assignment on Monday at Triple-A Albuquerque, tossing a scoreless inning. He will continue to build up his pitch count at the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate in Oklahoma City.

Halvorsen is one of the hardest-throwing pitchers in the league, but he has struggled with command throughout his career. Over 71 innings across three seasons, he has issued 38 walks (4.8 per nine innings). This season, he has shuttled between Triple-A and the majors, posting a 4.74 ERA with 17 strikeouts and 15 walks in 19 innings for the Rockies before landing on the IL.

Halvorsen has a 3.40 ERA at home (39.2 innings) and a 5.46 ERA on the road (31.1 innings). Interestingly, he has allowed more home runs away from Coors Field (9 on the road vs. 3 at home). Additionally, he has recorded far more strikeouts at home (45) than on the road (20).

Before the series opener against the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts commented on the trade: "Hopefully we can help him unlock some new aspects. His arm talent is clearly there, and our staff is very intrigued by him."

Vidourek, 22, posted a batting average of just .170 with 6 home runs and a .643 OPS over 256 plate appearances at Single-A Ontario this season, with a strikeout rate near 39%. The Dodgers selected him in the third round of the 2025 draft.

Frasso has a 3.90 ERA over five minor league seasons, including a 4.98 ERA and 1.56 WHIP in 121 innings at Triple-A. The 27-year-old righty was drafted by the Blue Jays in the fourth round of the 2020 draft and was traded to the Dodgers in 2022 alongside Moises Brito in exchange for Mitch White and Alex De Jesus.
