Mookie Betts apologizes to those who may be upset for missing the White House meeting with Trump to prioritize family time.

Having secured back-to-back World Series titles, the Los Angeles Dodgers were honored with a White House visit as per tradition, meeting with President Trump today. However, beyond the players still recovering from injuries, standout shortstop Mookie Betts was also missing from the group, drawing renewed attention and debate.

Visits to the White House by championship teams often involve political considerations, and many players have previously declined to attend. When Betts was with the Red Sox in 2019, he chose not to participate in the White House visit during Trump's first term. Last year, before the Dodgers' trip to the White House, Betts hesitated but ultimately decided to join, wanting to avoid making his personal choice a distraction.

Now that the Dodgers have visited the White House for two consecutive years, Betts has once again opted out, citing his desire to prioritize time with his family. He had already stated in early July that he would not take part in the event. With the birth of his third child this year and the constant travel required by the team, Betts wants to spend time with his loved ones and also get some rest.
