Pope Leo XIV receives a "Pope Hat" from the Chicago White Sox

Pope Leo XIV has long proven himself to be a true Chicago White Sox fan. A native of Chicago, he attended the 2005 World Series and met A.J. Pierzynski, from whom he received the final out ball of Game 1. This year, he even wore a White Sox cap in official settings.

Now, the relationship between the White Sox and the Pope has taken a new step, with a new hat added to the Pope's collection.

Father Tom McCarthy, a Chicago native and graduate of St. Rita of Cascia High School, presented Pope Leo XIV with a gift: a "Pope Hat" modeled after the popular giveaway from the White Sox's victory over the Reds on August 11.

Father McCarthy was present that day, accepting a check from the Chicago White Sox Charities on behalf of the Midwest Augustinian Province. Pope Leo XIV, known in Chicago as Father Robert Prevost, belongs to this same order.

After the Pope Hat was delivered, Father McCarthy took a commemorative photo with the Pope. The photo was later posted on the White Sox's official social media, showcasing the black-and-gold hat with a white sock emblem stitched in the center.

No one knows if Pope Leo XIV will actually wear this hat. But what is certain is that the Pope must be delighted to see the White Sox's rise this season.
