Prior to the Asian Championships, Lu Guangzu had been in a slump in form in three of his previous seven World Tour tournaments in the first round and four in the second round, but he did a great job in this tournament, defeating India's Burano, Chinese Taipei's Lin Junyi, Indonesia's defending champion Jonathan, and today's victory.
This is the fourth time in Lu Guangzu's career to participate in the Asian Championships. The previous best result was a semi-final in 2023. With his first run to the final this year, his next opponents are Thailand's world champion and Olympic silver medallist Kunlavo or Singapore's former world champion Loh Kean Yew.
As Lu Guangzu is the only remaining men's singles player in China, he has taken on the responsibility of winning the title for China again at home in eight years, the last time China won the men's singles title at the Asian Championships in 2017 was Chen Long.
