Recently, after Mark DeRosa, the head coach of the U.S. team in the World Baseball Classic, announced that Yankee captain Aaron Judge will be the captain of the U.S. team, the trout of the last U.S. team captain Mike Trout also said today (16th) that he wants to play alongside Judge.
Speaking ahead of the Rangers today, Trout, who played seven games in the last Classic, had a 2-to-96 batting average, one hit and seven RBIs, said: "There's no doubt that I want to play the Classic again, there's a lot of unfinished business there. I think overall, the excitement that comes with the Classic is affecting the major leagues as a whole, and it's been a great experience for people to ask not only me, but those who have played the Classic. The atmosphere of the classic, the enthusiastic support of the fans, and the overall experience are attracting a lot of people, and I think there will be a lot of people who want to play the next game."
When asked about DeRosa's statement that Judge will be the next Captain of America, and the subsequent conversations with Judge, Trout emphasized that he very much agrees with the decision, after all, he also has great respect for the 2022 and 2024 American League MVP heavyweight.
"He was last year's Midland MVP, I liked Judge, we had a great conversation, and I respect DeRosa, we're good friends and we communicate a lot. I think with the experience of the last classic, it made me know him better, and he went on to be the head coach and it was definitely interesting."
Although both Trout and Judge are now the team's right fielders, with both men having previously defended the midfielders, Trout says that if he can play in the classics, the positioning will not be a problem.
What's more, as mentioned earlier, the Classic is now attracting more attention and interest from major league players, so in the case of the U.S. team, if more good players are willing to play, it will make it easier for everyone to do their job and play for their country with the same goal of winning the championship.
"You compete on the pitch every day against the best players from the same team as you, so playing the classics gives you the opportunity to see those guys playing with you, you can see how hard they work every day, see what kind of people they are off the pitch, I've spent a lot of time with them and their families and then playing together and you get to know them a little bit better, it's an incredible experience."
