Padres star Tatis Jr. was hit by a touch ball in his left forearm and left the field early

Padres right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr. left the game early after being hit in his left forearm by a touchball during a three-game strike against the Buccaneers on Friday night.

Head coach Mike Shildt and his training team quickly stepped forward to check on the two-time All-Star's injury and ultimately decided to replace him. The runner on base was run by Oscar Gonzalez.

Tatis Jr. got off to a career-best start in the first 30 games of the season, batting average of 0.345, eight home runs and 18 RBIs. Its OPS of 1.021 temporarily ranks third in the major leagues.

The game was the first of nine road trips for the Padres.
