Yoshinobu Yamamoto helped the Dodgers to a 2-1 win over the Warriors at Truster Park on Friday, starting the game for the fourth time this season with at least six innings.
The right-hand pitcher, who had just won the National League's April Pitcher of the Month award, was hit by just one hit in six innings, six strikeouts and two deliveries, and his ERA dropped to 0.90 (starting the first seven games).
Yamamoto has never scored more than two points in a single game this season and has made at least five innings per game.
His no-hitter run lasted until the sixth inning, when he was broken by Warriors third baseman Austin Riley on second base. Yamamoto then let Marcell Ozuna, the designated striker, finish the half-game with a rolling ball and leave the court after completing the six-game mission with 91 balls.
May 2, 1995 – On the same day 30 years ago, Hideo Nomo made his major league debut in San Francisco in a Dodgers jersey. The legend who started the trend of Japanese players going to the United States still ranks first in MLB's Japanese player win list with 123 wins.
Despite Dodgers' limited play, Will Smith's four-inning high-flying sacrifice and Mookie Betts' six-round shoots were enough to seal the win.
