"Xie Su Combination" Xie Dingfeng and Su Weiyi became the best male athlete at the 2024 All Malaysia Sports Awards! The 2024 All Malaysia Sports Awards Ceremony was held at the Dorsett Grand Hotel in Subang on the 13th, and the badminton men's doubles pair Chia Ding Feng/So Wei Yi, who won medals in two consecutive Olympic Games, successfully beat the other four candidates, namely the badminton men's singles Lee Zi Jia, the Wushu Taolu World Cup men's sword champion Huang Yongsheng, the weightlifting world runner-up Alnick, and the Malay wushu world champion Abdul Latif, to win the best male athlete in Malaysia.
Chia Tingfeng and So Wei Yi won bronze again at last year's Paris Olympics, becoming the first Malaysian doubles pair to win back-to-back medals at the Olympics
The duo was awarded a permanent trophy, a certificate and a prize of RM20,000 (approximately 33,000 RMB). However, the pair was unable to attend the Thailand Badminton Super 500 this week, and the award was received by the secretary of the Badminton Association of Malaysia, Goh Chee Keong.
The selection criteria for the shortlist are based on the excellence of these athletes on the international stage in 2024. Last year, the pair won a bronze medal at the Asian Badminton Championships, reached the final of the All England Badminton Super 1000 Championship and won the Korea Badminton Super 300 Championship.
Most impressively, Cheah Su won another bronze medal at the Paris Olympics, becoming the first Malaysian doubles pair to win back-to-back medals at the Olympics.
