South Korea's Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae have competed together in seven tournaments so far this year, and five of them have successfully advanced to the men's doubles final. The pair had previously reached and won the Malaysian Super 1000, All England and German Super 300 tournaments, as well as the Indian Super 750 finals but finished runners-up. The tournaments they failed to qualify for the finals were the Asian Badminton Championships (second round exit) and the Orleans Super 300 tournament (which ended in the last four). Astrup and Rasmushin have played six tournaments this year, none of which have successfully advanced to the final.
