Max Muncy is gradually getting back to normal. The Dodgers third baseman scored seven dozen points in today's 18-2 Yankees thrashing at Dodgers Stadium, tying his career single-game record set in San Francisco on April 10, 2023. Muncy opened the first inning with a well-timed hit, then fired two three-pointers in the second and fifth innings ā the former knocking Yankees starter Will Warren out and the latter battering back pitcher Mark Leiter Jr. Not only did he achieve the 16th single-game double in his career, but his first home run was the 200th of his career.
The first two months of the season were challenging for Muncy, who tied for the second-most MLB third baseman with eight turnovers and bagged the longest home run drought of his career (which didn't end until the final day of April). At the end of April, he had a batting average of 0.194, an attack index of 0.610 and only one hit, and by May, he had improved his stats to 0.220 batting average and 0.723 attack index for a total of six hits. Although it is not ideal, its output is gradually approaching the average of his career.
