Yankee terminator Weaver is expected to be on the injured roster due to a hamstring injury and is expected to be out for 4-6 weeks

According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, Yankee finisher Luke Weaver is expected to be on the injured list with a hamstring injury and could be out for four to six weeks. The injury stemmed from a sudden discomfort during the warm-up in the cowpen before the game against the Dodgers on Monday morning Beijing time (Sunday night local time in New York), and Weaver has undergone an MRI and the team has not officially confirmed the schedule.

Weaver's 25.2 innings this season were 1.05 and he completed eight successful rescues, continuing his breakthrough performance in 2024. Since taking over Devin Williams as the finisher in late April, his nine-inning dominance has been key for the Yankees to lead the Eastern Conference in the American League. In the Yankees' 7-3 win over the Dodgers on Sunday night, Weaver experienced a sudden discomfort in the middle of his hamstring while warming up, prompting head coach Aaron Boone to make an interim transfer to Tim Hill to finish the game.

"I suddenly felt strange when I stretched after the warm-up," Boone confirmed after the race. Weaver's injury will further test the depth of the Yankees bullpen — Fernando Cruz (2.66 ERAs in 23.2 innings) and Jake Cousins are already on the injured list. The pressure turned to Williams (6.23 ERA this season), despite conceding just two points in his last 11 appearances.

The Yankees Bullpen ranks 13th in the major leagues with a 3.70 ERA this season, and Weaver's absence may force management to seek outside reinforcements.
