Today, the Dodgers completed two roster moves before the game: they activated right-hander Blake Treinen and recalled left-hander Justin Wrobleski from Triple-A Oklahoma City to strengthen their bullpen for the series finale at Fenway Park.
Treinen has pitched in eight games this season, with a record of 0 wins, 2 losses, and 2 saves, and an ERA of 3.38, but he missed 84 games since mid-April due to tightness in his right forearm. Manager Dave Roberts explained the usage limitations: "The only thing to be cautious about is high-frequency usage. It’s no problem for this 37-year-old veteran to handle high-leverage situations, but we need to be mindful if he throws too many pitches in a single inning."
This is Wrobleski's fourth promotion to the major leagues this season; he has a record of 4 wins and 3 losses with an ERA of 4.50 in eight appearances (two starts). In 11 appearances in Triple-A (10 starts), he has a record of 2 wins and 1 loss with an ERA of 4.18. Roberts clearly defined his role: "He will serve as a long reliever in the bullpen, providing support for two to three innings."
To create roster space, the Dodgers optioned right-handers Will Klein and Edgardo Henriquez to Triple-A.
