The Dodgers are eyeing Twins outfielder Bader and Cardinals' Donovan as the trade deadline approaches.

As reported by MLB insider Jon Heyman, the Dodgers are monitoring Twins outfielder Harrison Bader. Bob Nightengale from USA Today added that the team is also evaluating Cardinals' Brendan Donovan, corroborating Ken Rosenthal's prediction that "a trade involving Dustin May or an outfielder is possible."

The 31-year-old Bader has long been regarded as one of the top defensive outfielders in the league, primarily playing center field throughout his career, but this season he has mainly taken on left field duties, contributing four defensive runs saved. His .767 OPS this season surpasses Dodgers' left fielder Michael Conforto's .619 OPS and -4 defensive runs saved.

All-Star Donovan has played only 18 games in left field this season, but he participated in 105 games at that position in 2024. This versatile player has posted a solid batting line of .290/.359/.425 this season and is under contract until 2027; Bader, on the other hand, will become a free agent at the end of the season, holding a $10 million mutual option for 2026.

The Dodgers are expected to bolster their bullpen before the trade deadline—Nightengale stated that they "have contacted nearly every team seeking relief help." However, Rosenthal noted that the team is reluctant to pay a premium for top-tier relievers, making it unlikely that they will acquire star closers like Emmanuel Clase from the Guardians or Jhoan Duran from the Twins.
