Shin Yoshinobu Ogasawara struck out Kyle Schwarber with four pitches to earn his first Major League win.

This year, Japanese left-handed pitcher Shin Yoshinobu Ogasawara joined the Washington Nationals to challenge the Major Leagues. Today (15th), he was specially called up by the coach to face the Philadelphia Phillies' power hitter Kyle Schwarber in the seventh inning with two outs and the bases empty. Not only did he strike out Schwarber with just four pitches, but he also earned the win for resolving that at-bat, celebrating his first victory in the Major Leagues.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Nationals were still trailing 1-2. With two outs and a runner on first base, Shin Yoshinobu Ogasawara was called upon to pitch. He faced the batter Schwarber, who had already hit 42 home runs this season. Ogasawara showcased excellent control, using a curveball and a slider to get Schwarber to swing and miss, ultimately striking him out with a slider on the outside corner after getting to a 2-1 count. Throughout the at-bat, he did not allow the opponent to make contact with the ball, and the crowd cheered for him as he exited the field.

In the bottom of the inning, the Nationals took the lead with a crucial two-run RBI hit from Jose Tena. Jose A. Ferrer took over in the eighth inning, and Cole Henry closed the game in the ninth, leading to a final score of 3-2 in favor of the Nationals, granting Ogasawara his first Major League win.

Shin Yoshinobu Ogasawara made his first Major League start against the Boston Red Sox on July 7, pitching 2.2 innings and allowing seven hits and four runs. On July 13, he started again against the Milwaukee Brewers, giving up three runs over four innings. In his two appearances, he recorded a record of 0 wins and 1 loss, with an ERA of 9.45. He was then sent down to Triple-A for adjustments. After making improvements in the minor leagues, he returned to the Major Leagues on the 4th of this month and has since made seven appearances, lowering his ERA to 6.28.
