American media evaluates the seven major awards of the 21st century: LeBron James wins three, Spurs members claim the other four.

On August 20th, Beijing time, CBS, a well-known American media outlet, released its list of the seven major awards of the 21st century after previously naming the best overall and defensive lineups since 2000. LeBron James garnered three awards, and Spurs players secured the other four.

CBS pointed out that NBA awards are frequently handed out based on a rather limited data set. While 82 games per season may seem substantial, in an era where players must play at least 65 games, a single ankle sprain or hamstring injury could sway the voting. But what about 25 years? That’s a much more reliable sample size. We’ve now completed a quarter of the 21st century, and based on all performances since January 1, 2000, CBS conducted a vote to determine several awards, covering nearly all the major NBA honors except one—the Most Improved Player award, which proved too difficult to define clearly, so we chose not to select it.

All other awards were included in the voting, and both regular season and playoff performances were considered. For each award, CBS revealed the top three vote-getters—

Top three vote-getters for 21st century MVP:LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Tim Duncan

Top three for 21st century Defensive Player of the Year:Tim Duncan, Draymond Green, Kevin Garnett

Top three for 21st century Rookie of the Year:LeBron James, Victor Wembanyama, Luka Doncic

Top three for 21st century Coach of the Year:Gregg Popovich, Phil Jackson, Erik Spoelstra

Top three for 21st century Sixth Man of the Year:Manu Ginobili, Andre Iguodala, Lou Williams

Top three for 21st century Executive of the Year:RC Buford, Sam Presti, Pat Riley

Top three for 21st century Clutch Player:LeBron James, Dirk Nowitzki, Kobe Bryant (tied for second)

Judging by the results, LeBron James is clearly the biggest winner, earning the MVP, Rookie of the Year, and Clutch Player awards. The remaining four honors went to the Spurs: Defensive Player (Duncan), Coach (Popovich), Executive (Buford), and Sixth Man (Ginobili). Do you agree with CBS's selections?
