The Bulls officially declared that Rose’s No. 1 jersey will be retired at the game against the Celtics on January 24 next year.
This makes Rose the sixth player in Bulls history to have his jersey retired, joining the ranks of Jerry Sloan (No. 4), Bob Love (No. 10), Jordan (No. 23), Pippen (No. 33), and Russell (No. 6).
Rose spent seven years with the Bulls, averaging 19.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game. During that time, he was a three-time All-Star, made the All-NBA First Team once, won Rookie of the Year in 2009, and earned the NBA MVP award in 2011. In that MVP season, Rose averaged 25 points, 4.1 rebounds, 7.7 assists, and 1 steal per game, with shooting percentages of 44.5% from the field, 33.2% from three, and 85.8% from the free-throw line, leading the Bulls to a league-best 62-20 regular season record.
Besides the Bulls, Rose also played for the Knicks, Cavaliers, Timberwolves, Pistons, and Grizzlies, with an NBA career spanning 16 years. He unexpectedly announced his retirement last September, even giving up all his salary for the 2024-25 season.
Wishing Rose all the best; the Rose will continue to bloom beautifully around the world. His spirit will keep inspiring generations of dream chasers to move forward bravely, and his impact has long transcended basketball itself!
