No more playing! Saying goodbye to the new CBA season! Lin Wei is about to confirm his next destination.

According to domestic media insiders during a live broadcast,Lin Wei will compete in the NCAA next season, and his agency will soon officially announce which school he will join...

Not long ago, in the NBA G League International Draft, Lin Wei was selected 8th overall by the Texas Legends, a team linked to the Dallas Mavericks, but as stated above, he opted not to play in the development league and chose to pursue college basketball instead.

As a result, the new NCAA season will feature three well-known Chinese rising stars competing simultaneously: besides Lin Wei, there are also Wang Junjie and Zhao Weilen, both playing for the University of San Francisco.

Compared to Wang Junjie and Zhao Weilen, Lin Wei has mature professional experience and has proven himself in the CBA. Last season, he averaged 21 points, 3.3 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1.4 steals per game in the regular season, with shooting percentages of 41.3%, 34.9%, and 87.6%, leading the Tongxi team to its first-ever playoff appearance; in the playoffs, he exploded for an average of 30.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 11 assists, and 1.5 steals, with shooting percentages of 43.5%, 26.5%, and 94.1%.

Born on December 25, 2003, Lin Wei is only 21 years old and currently the top domestic scorer, but limited by average physical attributes and fierce competition at his position, he unfortunately went undrafted in this year’s NBA draft.

As for Lin Wei’s future career plan, it is currently confirmed that he is attempting to continue pursuing NBA opportunities by competing in the NCAA. If he fails to make the NBA again, he may join the Australian NBL or other overseas leagues. In any case, he will not return to play in the CBA for the 25-26 season. The overall goal is to improve himself by competing against high-level opponents.

Regarding Lin Wei and the Chinese national basketball team, after Guo Shiqiang led the team to a proud runner-up finish in this year’s Asia Cup, there is almost no public doubt about his player selection and usage. However, many still hope that this 21-year-old scoring leader will get a chance to represent the country.

China’s national team will officially start their World Cup qualifiers with two games against South Korea on November 28 and December 1. The 25-26 NCAA season is expected to begin in early November, showing a clear scheduling conflict between the two events, so unfortunately, it is very likely we won’t see Lin Wei wearing the national team jersey in the near term.

What else can be said? Wishing Lin Wei a smooth journey ahead. When your skills shine bright enough, the doors to any dream will open wide for you.
