EuroBasket Warm-up Summary: Serbia Leads Three Undefeated Teams, Defending Champion Records Only 1 Win and 5 Losses

On August 25th Beijing time, with the completion of all warm-up games, the 2025 Men's EuroBasket is set to begin. FIBA summarized the warm-up performances of all teams, noting that three teams remained unbeaten, while the defending champions Spain ended with just 1 win and 5 losses, showing troubling signs.

Serbia, France, and Finland all concluded their warm-up matches with perfect records. Among them, Serbia and France are considered strong title contenders, both hoping their current winning streaks will bring good fortune in the upcoming tournament. Serbia demonstrated clear dominance during the warm-ups, finishing with an impeccable 7-0 record; France also impressed by winning all 5 of their warm-up games, ending 5-0.

Led by their star player Lauri Markkanen, Finland won all 4 of their warm-up games. Additionally, Lithuania and Germany each lost only one match during their warm-up schedules: Lithuania went 6-1 with their sole defeat against Turkey; Germany finished 5-1, with their only loss coming to Serbia.

In stark contrast to these teams are the defending champions Spain, the 2017 EuroBasket champions Slovenia, and Georgia.

Spain’s head coach Sergio Scariolo faced a summer plagued by injuries: the team lost their warm-up opener to Portugal, then defeated the Czech Republic two days later; however, they subsequently suffered consecutive defeats in back-to-back home-and-away games against France and Germany, finishing their warm-ups with a 1-5 record.

Slovenia also struggled in their warm-up matches, closing with a 1-5 record. They began with four straight losses, during which their star Luka Dončić suffered an injury scare; although Dončić made a strong comeback to help secure a win against Great Britain, Slovenia was still heavily defeated by Serbia by 34 points in their final warm-up game.

Georgia recorded the poorest warm-up performance among all EuroBasket participants with a 0-6 record. Another team that lost all their warm-ups was Cyprus (0-2). Coached by Giorgi Tsiklauri, Georgia first lost two closed-door matches against Israel and Estonia, then fell to Lithuania and Poland, and finally ended their warm-up phase with two consecutive losses to the Czech Republic.
