Zeng Fanbo, great news! The Nets have announced a roster cut, freeing up another NBA two-way contract spot.

The Nets confirmed the release of 2.01m wing Tosan Evoma.Last season, he played 28 regular-season games, averaging 9.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2 assists, shooting 42.7% from the field, 31.2% from three, and 75.3% from the free-throw line. He is currently 24 years old.

With Evoma leaving, it means the Nets have freed up two two-way contract spots. Nets media outlet NetsDaily commented on this.Zeng Fanbo and two others are candidates for the two-way contracts.Three players are competing for two spots, giving them at least a 67% statistical chance of success.

Recently, player development coach and trainer Vaughn Compton shared a photo with Zeng Fanbo on his social media, praising Zeng’s 2.11m height combined with excellent shooting touch — a rare type of player.

Last season, playing in the CBA for Beijing, Zeng Fanbo averaged 14.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game, hitting two three-pointers per game at a 40.5% clip in the regular season; in the playoffs, he averaged 15 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1.6 blocks, shooting 43.3% from three with 2.6 made threes per game.

With his size, two-way skills, and ability to stretch the floor, he has strong potential as a high-quality 3-and-D forward.

Most importantly, Zeng Fanbo is only 22 years old, and his future holds limitless possibilities.

According to the latest update from Zeng Fanbo’s studio, he has completed nearly three weeks of individual training and rehabilitation in Phoenix and will soon head to Brooklyn to join the Nets, officially starting his NBA pursuit.

In early August, the Nets released their preseason schedule for the 25-26 season, as follows:

October 5th, home game vs. Israeli team Hapoel Jerusalem;

October 8th, Macau China Game vs. the Suns;

October 12th, Macau China Game rematch vs. the Suns;

October 18th, away game vs. the Raptors.

Whether Zeng Fanbo secures a two-way contract with the Nets will largely depend on his preseason performance — it’s time to see what he’s really made of.

Talent matters more than having the Chinese market backing; otherwise, even being best buddies with Mr. Cai won’t help.

What else can be said? Good luck to him.
