Officially announced! Anthony joins NBC! After waiting for a full 3 years

NBC Sports has unveiled the ultra-premium commentary lineup for the upcoming season as follows:

McGrady (7-time All-Star & Hall of Famer), Hill (7-time All-Star & Hall of Famer), Miller (5-time All-Star & Hall of Famer), Carter (8-time All-Star & Hall of Famer), Anthony (10-time All-Star & Hall of Famer), and Crawford (3-time Sixth Man of the Year).

Although Crawford may seem less impressive compared to the five Hall of Famers, his skills are undeniable—especially his ball-handling and dribbling, which are truly historic, making him a mentor to many younger players.

Tell me, who hasn’t tried to imitate Crawford’s style on the court?

As for Anthony, he is the “rookie” among the Hall of Famers, having just officially joined recently after announcing his retirement in May 2023.

Born on May 29, 1984, Anthony is now 41 years old, was the third pick in the 2003 draft, had a 19-year NBA career, averaging 22.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1 steal per regular season game; in the playoffs, he averaged 23 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.2 steals. Notably, he was the scoring champion in the 2012-13 season with 28.7 points per game and played a key role in helping Team USA win three Olympic gold medals.

Anthony’s final NBA stop was with the Lakers during the 2021-22 season, playing 69 regular-season games with 3 starts, averaging 26 minutes, 13.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1 assist per game, shooting 37.5% from the field and making 2.2 three-pointers per game. He still had plenty left in the tank, but due to age and other factors, he went unsigned in the summer of 2022 and quietly retired.

Now, after three years, Anthony has successfully returned to the NBA, albeit as a commentator, but at least he’s back in the public eye.

By the way, “Basketball God” Jordan has also joined NBC Sports as a guest commentator, reportedly earning a staggering $40 million annually, making him the highest-paid active sports analyst. His high-profile return is expected to help revive the NBA’s declining TV ratings.

Last year, NBC teamed up with Amazon and ESPN to sign an 11-year broadcasting deal with the NBA worth approximately $77 billion, effective from the 2025-26 season through the 2035-36 season!
