Is Giannis destined to leave the Bucks? His wife moves with the kids out of Milwaukee; US media propose Knicks' 6-for-1 trade plan

On October 8th Beijing time, foreign media Tovima reported that the family of Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo has left Milwaukee, with his wife Maria and their four children making a permanent move to Athens.

The report says: "Giannis’s wife and kids have moved into a newly built, futuristic custom apartment complex in old Psychiko, Athens. This building provides individual apartments for each of Giannis’s brothers and also includes a unit for his widowed mother. After months of family discussions, when asked whether they preferred Giannis to stay in Milwaukee or Athens, Maria chose the Greek capital."

The couple’s two older children, 5-year-old Liam Charles and 4-year-old Maverick Shai, have already started attending an elite private preschool in the same area. Giannis’s family spent the entire summer by his side, traveling around Greece and supporting him during the European Basketball Championship games held in Cyprus and Latvia.

According to earlier reports from renowned journalist Shams, Giannis is still evaluating his future with the Bucks and has expressed willingness to play only for the Knicks besides Milwaukee. The two teams engaged in trade talks last August but failed to reach an agreement. Today, US media revealed a potential Knicks trade proposal involving six assets for Giannis: the Knicks would send Anunoby, Mitchell Robinson, McBride, and three first-round picks to the Bucks in exchange for Giannis.

On ESPN’s latest show, journalist Wojnarowski stated that the general expectation is that Giannis will eventually leave the Bucks. "For a long time, it has been believed that, in one way or another, Giannis’s days with Milwaukee are numbered. It’s uncertain whether this will happen this year, during this season, or possibly next summer."

Analyst Perkins commented that Giannis is "afraid" to request a trade from the Bucks. "He clearly does not want to stay in Milwaukee but is hesitant to say it out loud. On the other hand, I think the Bucks are aware of this but are just deceiving themselves."

Giannis is about to enter his 13th NBA season, having played exclusively for the Bucks since joining the league. His contract with Milwaukee runs through the 2026-2027 season, with a player option for 2027-2028. Last season, Giannis averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game.
