As of October 9th Beijing time, Wembanyama ranks among the tallest players in the league, and the newest information indicates he has grown taller once more!
Two seasons ago, when Wembanyama joined the NBA, his official height was 2.21 meters and weight 94.8 kilograms. Yet, in the Spurs’ official roster for the 2025-26 season, his height is recorded as 2.26 meters with a weight of 106.6 kilograms. This means that since entering the league, Wembanyama has grown approximately 5 centimeters taller and gained 11.8 kilograms in weight.
This also makes him the tallest active player in the NBA, surpassing Memphis Grizzlies center Zach Edey. Edey did not experience a “second growth,” remaining at 2.24 meters, consistent with his official height during his rookie season. Moreover, this height advancement moves Wembanyama up the list of the tallest players in NBA history—he currently ranks tied for sixth tallest, behind Manute Bol and Gheorghe Mureșan (both officially 2.31 meters), as well as Yao Ming, Shawn Bradley, and Tacko Fall (all officially 2.29 meters).
Wembanyama is one of the NBA’s top young talents and is expected to reshape how the league views modern big men. With his outstanding height and wingspan, he is once again a leading candidate for the “Defensive Player of the Year” award this upcoming season; additionally, he possesses excellent athleticism, physical agility, ball-handling skills, and shooting touch.
At just 21 years old, he can effectively play low-post offense and consistently hit long-range shots beyond the three-point line. Wembanyama was the “Rookie of the Year” in the 2023-24 season and made his first All-Star appearance last season. Before sitting out due to deep vein thrombosis in February, he averaged 24.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists per game, and led the NBA with 3.8 blocks per game.
Now fully cleared to return to the court, both Wembanyama and the Spurs look forward to him further elevating his performance in his third NBA season.
