On October 13th Beijing time, American media ClutchPoints covered Durant’s romantic status. The 37-year-old Rockets newcomer remains unmarried, recently having his invitation to a female host rejected, and he ended an engagement 11 years ago. The full report follows—
Kevin Durant attempted to invite Kay Adams, but unfortunately, it did not work out.
This Rockets star extended an invitation to a podcast host, which later sparked discussion. Adams hosts the “Up&Adams” podcast, and Durant asked her on the show if she would like to attend a Rockets game live and then try some famous Texas barbecue together.
“You should come to Houston and watch a game in person, I’m waiting for you,” Durant suggested, “Once you’re here, we’ll go enjoy some Texas barbecue.”
However, Adams was not interested in attending the game. She told the NBA star that last year, when Durant was with the Phoenix Suns, she went to see him play live, but Durant didn’t even acknowledge her or wave.
The two-time NBA champion explained that on the day Adams came to watch, he was injured, so he didn’t have the chance to greet her. After Adams seemingly declined the invitation, Durant calmly said, “That’s okay,” showing no hard feelings.
Since breaking off his engagement with Monica Wright in 2014, Durant has rarely spoken publicly about his love life. Last year, he shared on Instagram Stories the reasons why he remains single, stating—
I tend to overthink a lot
I care too much about how others feel
I’m the kind of person who prioritizes safety—like “text me when you get home” or “rest well tonight”
I have a lot of energy
I give my all to people who don’t even return half of that sincerity
I’m willing to do anything to make others happy, even if it means hurting myself
I always need comfort and reassurance from others
When I feel the other person isn’t equally invested, I tend to distance myself
I enjoy traditional romance, but that’s rare among people our age
In 2015, Durant spoke about proposing to Wright in an interview with GQ magazine (Wright is now married to Michael Rogers).
“We were just hanging out, relaxed. Then I felt the moment and thought, ‘I have to do this now,’ so I proposed. I remember thinking... ‘We’re engaged now? We’re getting married?’ So I told myself, ‘This is good! I love this girl.’ But looking back, I didn’t love her the right way,” he said in the interview.
Questions like “Will I be single forever? Will I have kids?” have long troubled the 15-time NBA All-Star, even leading him to feel: “It seems hopeless, but I still have to keep faith.”
It is reported that Durant remains single for now, but no one can say if he will find someone special in Houston.
