The secrecy has been impressive! Harden revealed he already has a 6-year-old son, and his current girlfriend is also expecting a baby.

Since James Harden's well-known but brief relationship with Khloe Kardashian nearly a decade ago, the NBA star's private life has been largely unknown, except for some usual gossip about his nightlife habits.

On October 16th Beijing time, he revealed more information in the new season of Netflix's "Starting Five," a show that follows Harden, Durant, Alexander, Haliburton, and Jaylen Brown during the last NBA season.

In the third episode, while Harden’s Clippers played against the Rockets, he returned to Houston and disclosed that he has a son named Jace, who was already 6 years old during filming.

“Jace means the world to me,” Harden said at his Houston home, which he kept after being traded in 2021. “I think anyone with children understands that unique love you have for your own flesh and blood. It’s a joy. He’s your little replica. For me, it’s not even selfish; it’s about creating a person, wanting to shape him, and hoping he becomes better than you. It’s a different kind of love.”

This episode even mentioned the fact that the public was unaware Harden had a son.

“You know, Harden is very private,” said Harden’s agent Troy Payne. “People might say, ‘What?’ and be shocked, but yes, he is a father. Harden has always been there for his son and has been a very good dad.”

Harden also spoke about his girlfriend Paige Spietz, whom he has been dating for several years; Paige also has a son the same age as Jace. In the show, Harden, Spietz, and the two boys flew back to Los Angeles from Houston on a private jet after the Rockets game.

“When I was 23 or 24, I thought, ‘Man, I don’t want a girl with kids. You know what I mean? That’s a no-go.’ Now I’m 35. That mindset changed,” Harden said. “Then you find someone you really connect with, who understands you’re going through similar things emotionally, so it makes sense.”

At the end of the season, Harden and Spietz revealed that she is pregnant, and they are expecting a boy.

The show didn’t delve deeply into details about Harden’s son, but he clearly expressed that they share a close bond.

“My father wasn’t really around much, and I think that gave me extra motivation, like I want to shape him, be involved in his life,” Harden said. “I want him to always be with me, living with me and stuff. So as Jace grows, I organize my schedule around him.”

Although Harden is introverted, his relationship has become public, and he talked more about the woman he calls “my best friend,” including how they met — Harden asked a friend for her number and kept calling until she finally answered a FaceTime call.

“She’s weird for actually picking up FaceTime,” Harden joked. “That’s so strange.”

“But I love her, I’m in love, I’m in love,” Harden later said, staring at the camera, perhaps realizing he revealed too much on the show. “I don’t even know why I agreed to do this show.”
