On October 30th Beijing time, the Warriors hold a 4-1 record in their first five games, currently ranking third in the Western Conference, and now they have received more positive news. The Warriors officially updated Melton's injury status; the guard is recovering from last season's ACL tear, with progress described as "very good." He has recently intensified his training and is expected to be re-evaluated in three weeks.

According to the Warriors, Melton has started "individual workouts" and "small group training;" the team plans to gradually integrate him into full team practices over the coming weeks, including sessions with both the NBA main squad and their G League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors—who train more frequently than the Golden State main team.
The team stated they will reassess Melton's recovery in three weeks, meaning his earliest regular season debut could be at the end of November. This timeline aligns with head coach Kerr’s statement on October 1st, when he mentioned during training camp that the 27-year-old guard "is expected to be ready to play within the next two months."
At the start of the 2024-25 season, Melton had already joined the Warriors, and his performance last fall once made it seem like he was a "perfect fit for the team’s lineup." However, he played only six regular-season games before suffering a left knee ACL tear that ended his season.
During his injury period, Melton was traded by the Warriors to the Nets (mainly for salary matching purposes); however, this summer he returned to Golden State as a free agent, signing a "two-year minimum contract" with a "player option for the second year."

Melton is a typical "versatile guard," capable of ball-handling, shooting, and defending multiple positions. Once fully recovered, he is expected to secure a regular spot in the Warriors’ backcourt rotation, contributing on both offense and defense.
