On November 14th Beijing time, following the Mavericks’ decision to dismiss GM Nico Harrison this week, Anthony Davis’s future with the team is still in doubt.

John Wall, former NBA player and Kentucky schoolmate, stated on the "Run It Back" program that he thinks Davis’s career in Dallas is nearing its conclusion and indicated that the Chicago Bulls might be his next team.
“I really hope he stays healthy so the team can assess the current roster and wait for Kyrie Irving’s return from injury. But as it stands, Davis may no longer want to remain here,” Wall said. “I don’t want to speak for him, but he might be looking to start a new chapter. You can’t believe all the news, but there have been persistent rumors that he wants to go back to Chicago, his hometown, to see what’s happening there.”
“I think the Mavericks might be planning a rebuild, building around Flagler and clearing out some other players. However, if they stay healthy — keep Davis and wait for Irving to recover — this team could have been a dark horse. I initially thought they could hold a spot in the Western Conference, but with Nico Harrison’s firing, they might be heading in a different direction.”

Davis has missed nearly seven consecutive games for the Mavericks due to a calf injury. After losing 114-123 to the Suns, the team’s record dropped to 3-9. Meanwhile, star point guard Irving is still sidelined recovering from an ACL tear and has yet to play.
ESPN reporter Tim McMahon recently said on a podcast that he believes Mavericks owner Mark Cuban “at least will” discuss trading Davis. If such a trade happens, it would confirm that allowing Harrison to trade star point guard Luka Doncic to the Lakers last year was a huge mistake. Reports have already indicated Cuban regrets the Doncic trade.

Bleacher Report opines that a healthy Davis is one of the league’s top players, so the best option for the Mavericks might be to patiently wait and see how the team performs when fully healthy. Rushing a trade could only yield minimal returns, which would surely disappoint Dallas fans eager for positive change.
