Laughing out loud! The Eastern Conference's weakest team crushed the Thunder! An epic NBA trade might be on the horizon.

The Suns lost 105-108 (7th in the West), and the Hornets won 124-97 (12th in the East).

The top-ranked Thunder have fallen from their throne, experiencing their first consecutive losses of the season, with the blowout loss to the Hornets being particularly unexpected...

In these two matches, due to starting center Hartenstein's absence, the Thunder were outrebounded by 39 rebounds combined, clearly revealing their lack of interior strength.

So far, the Thunder hold a 30-7 record. It seems their hopes of matching the Warriors’ historic 73-9 record from the 2015-16 season are slim, and whether they can defend their championship title remains highly uncertain.

However, because of their recent poor form (6 wins and 6 losses) coinciding with the trade deadline, many believe the desperate Thunder might make a big move; they are arguably the most qualified team in the league to go all-in.They currently possess 13 future first-round picks plus 3 pick swap rights.

In today’s trade market, the only player who could truly excite the Thunder is undoubtedly the “Greek Freak,” the 31-year-old Giannis Antetokounmpo.

So far this season, the Bucks stand 16-20, ranked 11th in the East. Giannis averages 29.3 points, 10 rebounds, and 5.5 assists in 28.8 minutes per game, shooting an impressive 64.3% from the field. His current contract runs through 2028, with a salary of $54.13 million this season, and combined salaries of about $120 million over the next two years.

But it’s certain that if the Thunder want Giannis, they will need to give up multiple first-round picks and at least one of their three young stars (Alexander, Jewell, or Chet), which means dismantling the core that won the 2025 championship.

Jewell is clearly the most vulnerable; after signing a five-year, $287 million max extension last offseason, his performance has declined sharply this season, averaging only 17.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 1.5 steals per game—his lowest scoring average since his rookie year. Moreover, when he plays, the team’s record is 12-6, but without him, it improves dramatically to 18-1.

Of course, even if the Thunder decide not to trade Giannis or others and choose to stand pat, they will still be the top contenders for the championship. A temporary setback should not diminish their chances.
