Fast break one-on-four! Dunking over four defenders! The NBA's dunk of the year is here!

Anthony Black.

In the NBA Berlin game between the Magic and the Grizzlies, he took on four defenders in a fast break, leaping high for a one-arm dunk.

The breathtaking dunk over four defenders was praised by media and fans as a "world-class masterpiece" dunk.

Indeed, amazing.

In this match, Black played 35 minutes, scoring 21 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, and 1 steal.

In the last ten games, he has averaged 20.4 points, 5.8 assists, with shooting percentages of 51% from the field, 42% from three, and 83% from the free-throw line.

This season, I have been keeping an eye on this explosive young talent and also learned more about his background story.

Delivering one of the best dunks of the year (possibly the best) on German soil holds special significance for Anthony Black.

Black was born into a sports family; his father was a professional basketball player, and his mother played football.

He showed athletic talent from a young age, trying baseball, soccer, and football before basketball became his fourth sport.

Because his father played in the German league, he was brought to Europe as a child.

As a result, Black speaks fluent German.

After his parents divorced, his mother took him back to the United States.

By his sophomore year of high school, Black had already received over ten college football scholarship offers.

He only focused fully on basketball near the end of high school.

Later, something unusual happened.

Shortly after transferring to Duncanville High School, Black was suspended because his mother got involved with the school team’s coach.

Accused of improper recruitment, he was suspended for a year.

However, this incident did not stop this athletic prodigy.

He went to NCAA Arkansas for college, playing 36 games as a freshman, averaging 34.8 minutes, 12.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 2.1 steals, with shooting percentages of 45.3% field goals, 30.1% three-pointers, and 70.5% free throws.

A 1.98-meter tall guard with a 2.03-meter wingspan, that’s why he stands out.

Ultimately, he was picked 6th overall in 2023 and joined Orlando.

Now in his third season with the Magic, this is his breakout year: averaging 15.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.

What’s his style? A defensively strong, athletically gifted tall guard, but with inconsistent shooting.

At the draft, scouts compared him to a bigger version of Lonzo Ball.

The Magic, however, are not a high-profile team.

So unless you’re a hardcore fan, you might miss Black’s progress.

If he keeps this up, there might be no need to worry about Suggs anymore.

Last November, during a Magic vs. Warriors game, I was already impressed by his energy on the court.

I didn’t expect him to pull off something this big today...

Bro, why not enter the dunk contest this year?!
