Ayton shared a selfie despite his eye injury! Reddick joked after the game: He looks just like a pirate

On January 21st Beijing time, Lakers center Ayton posted on social media a selfie after sustaining an injury in today’s match, adding the caption “Arrr!! (pirate flag emoji)! Hold on, chill out, little brother!” His “one-eyed” appearance truly looks like a pirate.

This was the Lakers coach Reddick’s postgame remark. Reddick said Ayton should be fine by tomorrow, as it was likely just a minor eye poke, and he also humorously described Ayton’s appearance after the injury.

“He got poked in the eye,” Reddick said in the postgame interview, “and now he looks just like a pirate. His eye condition isn’t great, but we’re hopeful it’s only a minor poke and he’ll be back tomorrow.”

Near the end of the second quarter, Ayton’s left eye was accidentally injured, and he stayed in the Lakers’ locker room afterward without returning to the court. Before leaving due to injury, Ayton played 15 minutes, scoring 4 points and grabbing 8 rebounds.

So far this season, Ayton averages 14 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. In the previous game before this one, the Lakers defeated the Toronto Raptors 110-93, where he delivered an excellent performance with 25 points and 13 rebounds.
