On January 23rd Beijing time, with the trade deadline drawing near, Hornets forward Miles Bridges has sparked significant trade interest from multiple teams. Renowned reporter Sam Amick noted that the Warriors, Bucks, and Suns are all pursuing the 27-year-old.

Bridges is earning $25 million this season, with a contract worth $22.8 million for the 2026-27 season, so the Hornets are not in a rush to decide his future. Amick pointed out that unless potential trade partners increase their offers to meet the team's demands, the Hornets are unlikely to make a deal.
“They want a first-round pick,” a league source revealed, “possibly even two.”
Selected 12th overall in the 2018 first round, Bridges has spent his entire career with the Charlotte Hornets. Since entering the league, he has started 363 of 468 regular-season games for the team. So far in the 2025-26 season, he averages 32.8 minutes, 18.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game.
Bridges is not an elite defender or shooter—this season his shooting percentage stands at a modest 44.3%, with a three-point percentage of just 33.2%. Nevertheless, the 2.01-meter forward has averaged over 20 points per game in each of the past three and a half seasons; as a wing player, he combines excellent size and versatile skills with remarkable durability—he has never played fewer than 64 games in a single season and has appeared in 44 of 45 games this season.
Of course, teams interested in acquiring Bridges must consider his off-court issues. The former Michigan State star suffered a major setback before the 2022-23 season: just as he was about to become a restricted free agent, he was arrested on felony domestic violence charges, causing him to miss the entire season. He later reached a plea agreement on the case, and three other related domestic violence criminal charges were dropped. After serving a suspension early in the 2023-24 season, Bridges has not been involved in any legal troubles in the past two seasons.

Amick added that the Hornets have little interest in acquiring forward Kyle Kuzma, which has become a major obstacle in potential trades with the Bucks. While the Bucks have other tradable players, Kuzma, with a $22.4 million salary, is the most reasonable trade chip.
If the Hornets proceed with a deal with the Warriors, it will likely involve Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga. Kuminga's $22.5 million salary closely matches Bridges' contract, but it is unclear whether Charlotte is interested in the former 7th overall pick.
The Suns' interest in Bridges is notable because Bridges and Suns owner Mat Ishbia are alumni of the same school. However, reports indicate that Ishbia's Suns are reluctant to make a major midseason trade to avoid disrupting the team's current chemistry.
