In the first quarter, Wells opened the scoring for Liaoning with a long-range three-pointer. Nator, Lawson, and Wu Guanxi contributed both inside and outside, as Xinjiang launched a 12-0 scoring run to overturn the score and force a timeout on Liaoning. After the break, Jiang Yuxing completed a 2+1 play to end the scoring drought, then Nator and Qi Lin led another 8-0 run, extending Xinjiang's lead to 13 points. Yu Zechen scored a layup with a spin move, Wu Changze hit a three-pointer, and Xinjiang led 23-14 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, after Harris scored a layup, Morland, Wells, and Yu Zechen attacked both inside and outside, sparking a 7-0 run that forced a timeout on Xinjiang.
