WNBA's largest contract ever! A'ja signs a 3-year, $5 million super-max deal to stay with the team, yet her annual salary still falls below Bronny's.

On April 16 Beijing time, according to ESPN sources, A'ja Wilson, the first player in WNBA history to win four regular-season MVP awards, has signed a three-year, $5 million super-max contract with the Las Vegas Aces, staying with the team.

This contract is the largest ever in WNBA history, fully guaranteed, and was negotiated and finalized by agent Jed Lee English of Koch Sports Group.

The Aces have officially announced the extension but did not disclose contract details. According to the WNBA's new collective bargaining agreement, Wilson's salary for next season is $1.4 million; her salary for the following two years will increase annually by 20% of the team's salary cap, supported by the league's new revenue-sharing model. U.S. media noted that although MVP A'ja Wilson's average annual salary reaches around $1.6 million, it is still lower than NBA rotation player Bronny's ($1.9 million), highlighting the income gap between WNBA and NBA players.

Aces President and General Manager Nikki Fargas stated in a declaration: "A'ja is a unique benchmark; she has led the team to its current heights. She stands among historical legends, has broken nearly all existing records, and always remains confident, pure, and graceful. We look forward to her continuing to wear the Aces jersey and maintain peak performance."

Currently, Indiana Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell is the only other player in the league with a super-max contract, though hers is only a one-year deal.

The three-time WNBA champion told media during last week's U.S. women's national team training camp that she has no intention of leaving the only team she has played for over eight seasons.

"I love Las Vegas and will never leave here," Wilson said last week. "I want to win another championship and defend our title honor in Las Vegas. I also hope to grow as a leader and player; everything else will follow naturally."

With Wilson officially re-signing, the Aces retain 90% of the scoring power from their 2025 championship roster. Of the team's average 83.6 points per game last season, 75.5 points come from returning players.

The Aces also announced signing guard Chennedy Carter, offering her a training camp contract.

Carter was selected by the Atlanta Dream with the 4th overall pick in the 2020 WNBA draft. She played for the Dream for her first two seasons, joined the Los Angeles Sparks in 2022, and played for the Chicago Sky in 2024. Throughout her career, she has played 84 WNBA regular-season games, averaging 14.6 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.8 assists.

Last season, Wilson made history by becoming the first player across U.S. men's and women's basketball (WNBA+NBA) to win the scoring title, regular-season MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and Finals MVP in a single season. In the 2025 season, she averaged 23.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.3 blocks, and 1.6 steals per game, with a shooting percentage of 50.5%.

The 29-year-old Wilson was drafted as the No. 1 pick by the Las Vegas Aces in 2018. In 2022, she led the team to its first championship; in 2023, she guided the team to a successful title defense and won the Finals MVP. Her career accolades include: seven WNBA All-Star selections, five First Team All-WNBA honors, and four First Team All-Defensive selections.

During college, she played for the University of South Carolina under renowned coach Dawn Staley, helping the team win the 2017 NCAA women's basketball championship. On the national team level, she has earned two Olympic gold medals, winning with the U.S. team at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and the 2024 Paris Olympics women's basketball events.
