The Best Interview Team Announced! Wembanyama and Curry Lead the First Team, Giannis and Draymond on Second Team, James Nominated

On April 14 Beijing time, the Professional Basketball Writers Association (PBWA) announced that Victor Wembanyama and Stephen Curry lead the selection for the NBA's "Best Media Interview Team" for the 2025-26 season. This award aims to recognize players who consistently demonstrate sincerity, insightful perspectives, and engaging communication when interacting with the media.

Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs and Curry of the Golden State Warriors ranked first and second in the voting by association members. Also selected for the Best Interview First Team are Kevin Durant of the Houston Rockets, Donovan Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics.

Players selected for the Second Team are Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks, Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors, Bam Adebayo of the Miami Heat, and Josh Hart of the New York Knicks.

The "Best Media Interview Team" was once a regular official NBA award but was discontinued after the 2003-04 season. In 2025, the Professional Basketball Writers Association revived this award to honor players who not only fulfill (or even exceed) their media interview obligations but also consistently provide profound insights, display passion and thoughtful reflection, making coverage more vivid.

Association President Howard Beck stated, "The NBA is a league of immense talent and also tremendous personality. We appreciate these players for dedicating extra effort to make our reporting more informative and inspiring."

Including Lakers star LeBron James, dozens of players received nominations from association members, with 28 entering the final candidate list and receiving votes from all members. Each First Team vote counted for 2 points, and each Second Team vote counted for 1 point.

Other players receiving votes are listed below in alphabetical order—

Alexander-Walker (Atlanta Hawks), Jarrett Allen (Cleveland Cavaliers), Deni Avdija (Portland Trail Blazers), Desmond Bane (Orlando Magic), Devin Booker (Phoenix Suns), Dillon Brooks (Phoenix Suns), Toumani Camara (Portland Trail Blazers), Max Christie (Dallas Mavericks), Cade Cunningham (Detroit Pistons), Dyson Daniels (Atlanta Hawks), Keyonte George (Washington Wizards), Rudy Gobert (Minnesota Timberwolves), LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers), Kon Knupel (Charlotte Hornets), Kristaps Porzingis (Golden State Warriors), Austin Reaves (Los Angeles Lakers), Naz Reid (Minnesota Timberwolves), and Garrett Temple (Toronto Raptors).

Besides the Best Interview Team, the association annually awards three other honors to recognize professionals who provide the greatest support for media work:

Magic Johnson Award: Presented since the 2000-01 season, it honors NBA players who excel on the court while also demonstrating high cooperation and graceful demeanor when dealing with media and fans.

Rudy Tomjanovich Award: Established in the 2010-11 season, it honors NBA head coaches who achieve excellent results on the court and actively cooperate with media and fans.

Brian McIntyre Award: Introduced in the 2006-07 season, it is awarded to the team media relations staff that demonstrates the highest professionalism and work standards.

The winners of these awards for the 2025-26 season will be announced this week.

The Professional Basketball Writers Association consists of over 200 journalists and editors who regularly cover NBA and WNBA games for newspapers, magazines, and online media.
