Century Reconciliation! Barkley Reveals He and Jordan Have Settled Their Differences: They Plan to Play Golf Together

On April 19 Beijing time, former NBA star Charles Barkley disclosed that he and Michael Jordan have repaired their relationship, resolving past conflicts, and golf will once again serve as the bond maintaining their connection.

In the 1990s, Barkley and Jordan were not only two NBA superstars, but also teammates on the 1992 Olympic Dream Team, and close friends who both passionately loved golf. However, over ten years ago, Barkley publicly criticized Jordan's management work as the owner and basketball operations president of the Charlotte Bobcats (now Charlotte Hornets), leading to a rupture in their friendship.

The conflict began in 2012. At that time, Barkley guest-hosted an ESPN Chicago radio program and bluntly stated: "Jordan's biggest problem now is that he lacks people around him who dare to speak frankly and whose opinions he can heed. After reaching a high position and gaining fame, everyone around you depends on you for their livelihood; no one will oppose you because they all rely on you to pay the bills and support their lives... I think Michael hasn't recruited enough people who dare to offer differing opinions."

Barkley added at the time: "I respect Michael greatly, but his management work has indeed been poor."

As expected, Jordan was extremely displeased with these remarks. In 2020, Barkley admitted that their relationship had not been repaired. "Honestly, he was like a brother to me, and that friendship lasted over twenty years," Barkley said six years ago.

"I actually feel quite sad about it. But in my heart, he will always be the greatest basketball player in history. I sincerely wish him all the best, but this relationship, I have no power to restore it."

Now, the stalemate has finally been broken. Barkley revealed on a radio program that they have reconnected and plan to play golf together after the NBA season ends.

"We had a good conversation," Barkley stated, "Once the basketball season concludes, we'll meet up and play a round of golf together."

The host Russo told him: "Charles, this is definitely big news, considering he had been holding a grudge against you!"

Barkley responded: "We aren't like Prince William and Prince Harry, who have completely broken off and ceased all contact."
