The Wizards are targeting James, while the Lakers are setting their sights on Irving! James' 22-year historical streak comes to an end.

The NBA officially announced the 2025-26 All-NBA Teams today. The First Team consists of Cunningham, Alexander, Doncic, Wembanyama, and Jokic. The Second Team features Brunson, Mitchell, Jaylen Brown, Leonard, and Durant. The Third Team includes Maxey, Murray, Jalen Johnson, Holmgren, and Duren.

James posted on social media to congratulate Doncic on making the First Team. This marks Doncic's sixth career First Team selection. He becomes the fifth player in NBA history to earn six First Team honors by age 27, joining Duncan (7), James (6), Oscar Robertson (6), and Bob Pettit (6).

Because James only played 60 regular-season games, he fell short of the 65-game minimum required for awards, ending his streak of 21 consecutive All-NBA selections. This is the first time in 22 years that James has missed out on an All-NBA Team. Notably, Doncic and Cunningham both played 64 games this season but successfully appealed to gain eligibility.

The last time James missed the All-NBA Team was during his rookie season. In that year, Duren (Third Team) and Wembanyama (First Team) were just born.

This season, the 41-year-old James still averaged 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. If he had played 65 games, those numbers would have certainly earned him a spot on an All-NBA Team, at least the Third Team. Unfortunately, James missed 14 consecutive games early in the season due to sciatica, thus losing his eligibility.

In his eight seasons with the Lakers, James has shot over 50% from the field in seven of them, with a career-high three-point percentage of 42%. His Lakers averages are 25.9 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 7.9 assists, with a 51.3% field goal percentage, 35.6% three-point percentage, and 73% free throw percentage.

Since entering the league in 2003, James has been selected to the All-NBA Team 21 times, including 13 First Team selections—both all-time records. Kobe Bryant and Karl Malone are tied for second with 11 First Team selections each. From 2008 to 2018, James made the First Team for 11 consecutive years, records that future players may never surpass.

A frequently discussed topic: where will James go next?

NBA insider Scoop B stated today that the Washington Wizards are quietly making moves, emerging as a dark horse contender in the race for James.

The Wizards have Trae Young, Russell, and most notably, Anthony Davis.

However, the Wizards failed to make the playoffs this season with a 17-65 record, finishing last in the entire league. Although they are plagued by injuries, can anyone guarantee they will transform into a championship contender next season?

James said a couple of days ago that if he plays a 24th season, he won't join a lottery team to start over. He wants to continue pursuing his fifth career championship.

Scoop B also reported that if James decides to leave, the Lakers will weigh the pros and cons of reuniting Doncic and Irving—former teammates. Over the past week, the 34-year-old Irving has repeatedly appeared in trade rumors.

Wow, when James and Davis were together, they didn't think about bringing in Irving, but now they're ready to go all in?
