Justice prevails! The Thunder have been eliminated! LeBron James sets the Finals record, first in history, unmatched by anyone.

First off, congratulations to the Spurs for defeating the Thunder 4-3 in the series and advancing to the Finals. One can only say justice has prevailed. The Finals will feature the Knicks and the Spurs. No matter which team wins, a new champion will emerge—either Wembanyama's first career title or Brunson's first.

Here, we have to mention LeBron James. What does it mean to lead a team to the Finals for eight consecutive years?

LeBron James' eight consecutive Finals appearances are not the longest streak in history. That record belongs to Bill Russell, who made the Finals for ten straight years from 1957 to 1966, reaching the Finals a total of 12 times in his 13-year career. The only season he missed the Finals was 1966–67, when, as a player-coach, his team was eliminated in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Russell's teammates at the time, such as Sam Jones, also made the Finals nine times in a row. All these players came from the same Celtics dynasty. The league had only8-10 teams, with fewer playoff rounds. There was no salary cap, no luxury tax, and no free-agent movement restrictions. In essence, it was the product of a monopoly dynasty.

As for the significance of LeBron James' eight consecutive Finals appearances? It was achievedin the era of 30 teams, with a salary cap and a luxury tax system. The key point is that James accomplished this feat as the absolute core player on two different teams—the Heat and the Cavaliers. After leaving Miami and returning to Cleveland, he changed coaching staff, roster, and team system, yet still made the Finals for four straight years. No one in any era has ever done that.

LeBron James is truly one of a kind.

Moreover, the opponents he eliminated during those eight years include: the Celtics with Pierce, Garnett, and Allen; the Celtics with Tatum; the Pacers with Granger and George; the Bulls with prime Rose; the 59-win Raptors with DeRozan and Lowry; and the 60-win Hawks with an All-Star starting lineup.

During those eight years, James had to play more than an extra month of high-intensity games each season. On average, he played 20-25 more playoff games per season than players who didn't reach the Finals, amounting to nearlytwo full regular seasonsworth of extra games.

After each Finals, James had a shorter summer break than his opponents, and the cumulative physical wear and tear kept building up. His ability to stay nearly injury-free in critical games, along with his physical condition, self-discipline, and body management, are all historically elite.

Enduring eight years of constant championship expectations, the failure in 2011, the comeback in 2016, and the rebuilding after returning to Cleveland in 2014—such psychological pressure would crush most players. James's mental toughness is also in a league of its own.

We will never again see a team reach the Finals for eight consecutive years. Let alone a player leading two different teams to the Finals in two separate four-year stretches.

The last time the Cavaliers made the Finals was in 2018, when James left Cleveland. Now, an opportunity is presented for the Cavaliers to welcome James back home.

NBA reporter Sam Amico appeared on a Cleveland sports radio show today to discuss the possibility of the Cavaliers acquiring James. He said, "I'm sure the Cavaliers will wait and see how LeBron's situation unfolds, and they are already exploring various ways to see if they can bring him back to Cleveland."

James has probably not decided on his next team yet. He is currently enjoying his vacation. Today, he took his children to the seaside lawn to play golf. He posted related updates with the caption: "Today is my daughter's first time playing golf with her brothers. Bryce's third time playing golf, his movements are natural. The video was taken by my daughter, thank her."

Later, James boarded a yacht and took a selfie in front of a distorted mirror.

The old man is happy—no need to rush a decision. As long as he plays another year and goes to a team that can contend for a championship, that's good enough.
