In the first quarter, Goodwin opened with a driving layup, and Zhang Zhenlin hit a three-pointer to give Shanghai a 5-0 lead. Brown answered with a long three for Guangsha to break the ice. Fogg scored on free throws and a jumper, and Zhang Zhenlin threw down a dunk, keeping Shanghai ahead by about six points. Hu Jinqiu, Zhu Junlong, and Brown scored from multiple spots, sparking a 7-2 run to cut the deficit to one point. Brown was unstoppable, scoring seven straight points to push Guangsha ahead 28-25. The teams then traded baskets. At the end of the first quarter, Guangsha led 30-29.
In the second quarter, Liu Zheng immediately hit a three to retake the lead.
