As of June 13, Beijing time, trade rumors linking Jokić and Dončić have persisted for years. On one hand, the two are close friends, and many fans hope to see them play together. On the other hand, as fellow MVP candidates, the chemistry between these two superstars is intriguing. However, the likelihood of this happening seems extremely slim. Their mutual friend, Vlatko Čančar, was recently asked about this in an interview and gave his response.

The reporter asked Čančar whether he thinks Dončić and Jokić might one day play together on the same NBA team.
Čančar said: "That's a good question. In my view, the chance of them teaming up is almost zero. I believe Jokić will never leave the Nuggets, and Dončić is now settled in Los Angeles. Whether through a trade or via free agency, it's unrealistic at this stage. At least during their prime years or the period close to their prime, it's absolutely impossible."

Since they can't unite in their prime, does that mean it could happen at the tail end of their careers? Čančar added: "There is, of course, a very small scenario—when Jokić turns 40, he might, like many veterans, sign a minimum contract to play one more season in Los Angeles, while Dončić is still there. That's probably the only possibility."
Of course, such a pairing would likely have little impact on the league. However, as Čančar noted, the chance of them joining forces in their prime is extremely low, and the current CBA makes it difficult for two players on supermax contracts to become teammates.
