On June 29, Beijing time, per TA, the Eastern District of New York federal prosecutor's office officially brought sports betting-related criminal accusations against Malik Beasley, a nine-year NBA veteran; Ed Davis, a lottery pick who played 12 seasons in the league, likewise faced charges.

The probe into Beasley has lasted more than a year. Last offseason, the Detroit Pistons offered Beasley a three-year, $42 million contract, but upon receiving notice that Beasley was under federal investigation, the team immediately withdrew the offer.
TA reports that with Beasley and Davis, five current or former NBA players have now been indicted in this large-scale federal investigation into illegal sports gambling and insider information trading in the league.
Terry Rozier faces four counts in the Eastern District of New York; former Raptors center Jontay Porter pleaded guilty to one federal count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud last July; veteran Damon Jones, who played 11 seasons, also pleaded guilty to related charges in this case this April.
Prosecutors allege: In March 2023, while playing for the Charlotte Hornets, Rozier accepted a $100,000 bribe to deliberately leave the game early. He informed a friend, named Deniro Laster, of his early exit in advance, and Laster sold that insider information to a group of sports bettors, who then placed proposition bets on Rozier's individual statistics for profit. Laster was also charged and currently pleads not guilty.
Rozier denies all allegations. The case awaits trial, with the trial date set for February 8, 2027.
Officials have not yet disclosed the specific charges against Beasley. He was a first-round pick in 2016 and has played for the Nuggets, Timberwolves, and Pistons during his career.

Davis has played for eight teams throughout his career, finishing his last season with the Cavaliers in 2021-22.
