The Warriors have overtaken the Lakers to become the frontrunners for LeBron James' next team! The Warriors will form a super four-star lineup.

Just over an hour ago, prominent journalist Shams reported that Golden State's Draymond Green declined his $27.7 million player option for the upcoming season, entering free agency. This gives the Warriors enough salary cap flexibility to chase LeBron James and Anthony Davis, creating a four-star core.

The Warriors plan to swap Butler for Davis and then bring in James on a new contract. With Green opting out, Golden State can generate a $15 million mid-level exception. Although Green and the Warriors are expected to continue negotiating a new deal, this step temporarily provides the team with extra flexibility as free agency begins.

Following the release of this news, the probability of the Warriors landing James surged dramatically, surpassing the Lakers and claiming the top spot.Prediction platform Kalshi published the odds for James' next team:

1. Warriors 46%
2. Lakers or retirement 30%
3. Cavaliers 17%
4. Heat 5%

NBA insider Jake Weinbach reported that Draymond Green and LeBron James share a close bond. By giving up his $27.7 million player option, Green is creating more cap space for the Warriors, making a James move to Golden State at least a realistic possibility.

Well-known reporter Chris Haynes stated that James and the Lakers have yet to hold any meaningful discussions about his future. However, sources indicate that given the Warriors' strong interest, this lack of dialogue is expected to change.

According to earlier reporting, ESPN's Brian Windhorst said: "As soon as the NBA Finals ended, the Lakers front office reached out to LeBron and his camp, expressing their desire to keep him. Since then, the Lakers have wanted to meet with James but haven't made any offer. As far as I know, James simply hasn't had time to meet."

The reporter noted that James' primary factor in choosing his next team is "playing happy" rather than "maximizing salary."

ESPN's Ramona Shelburne reported that James never fully committed to returning in his initial talks with the Lakers. The New York Post reported that after feeling his recent sacrifices for the Lakers were largely underappreciated, James has been reluctant to consider a significant pay cut to stay.

So what is the current state of the Lakers?

In a report from Shams an hour ago, center Deandre Ayton will exercise his $8.1 million player option for next season and remain with the Lakers.

He is clearly not the elite center that Luka Doncic reportedly wanted, and the Lakers are expected to upgrade at the center position.

According to a report by Ary,Marcus Smart will decline his $5.4 million player option for next season, becoming a free agent. Multiple teams have expressed interest in signing him.

Los Angeles reporter Ryan Ward said that if James, Rui Hachimura, and Smart all leave, it would be a massive loss for the Lakers. General Manager Rob Pelinka better have a Plan B, or the Lakers will struggle this season, and he could lose his job.

Given the Lakers' questionable trade market moves over the past eight years since James joined, Pelinka, who tends to focus on the buyout market, should have been let go long ago.

Returning to the trade speculation involving James and the Warriors. Upon closer look, James, Green, and Davis all share the same agent, Rich Paul. In recent offseasons, the three have made time to hang out, have drinks, and chat.

Honestly, at this stage of his career—the last year or two—happiness is what matters most. Whatever decision he makes, we'll support it unconditionally. Some choices might be hard for die-hard fans to accept right away, but as long as he can contend for a championship and end his career on a high note, we're all for it.

Remember, we've never been fans of a specific team; we're simply fans of LeBron James.
