The Trail Blazers officially welcome Ja Morant! A 2-for-1 trade is finalized, and Yang Hansen and Damian Lillard gain a new teammate.

As of June 30th Beijing time, Trail Blazers GM Joe Cronin declared today: Portland obtained guard Ja Morant from the Memphis Grizzlies in a trade, sending forwards Jerami Grant and Kris Murray the other way. The Blazers' official social media account shared a picture of Morant and extended a warm welcome. Yang Hansen and Damian Lillard get a new teammate.

Ja Morant

Standing 1.88 meters tall and weighing 79 kg, he has spent his entire 7-year NBA career with the Grizzlies, appearing in a total of 327 regular-season games (325 starts), averaging 31.7 minutes, 22.4 points, 7.4 assists, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per contest.

He has been selected to the All-Star Game twice (2022, 2023), named to the All-NBA Second Team in 2022, and won the Most Improved Player award for the 2021-22 season.

In the 2019 NBA Draft, the Grizzlies used the second overall pick to select Morant from Murray State University, and he went on to claim the Rookie of the Year honor for the 2019-20 campaign.

He led the Grizzlies to the playoffs four times, averaging 26.0 points, 8.1 assists, and 6.2 rebounds across 22 playoff games.

Jerami Grant

He was traded from the Pistons to the Trail Blazers just before the start of the 2022-23 season. Over four years, he played 221 games (202 starts) for Portland.

Last season, he appeared in 56 games (38 starts) for the Blazers, averaging 29.7 minutes, 18.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.1 assists with a field goal percentage of 45.3% and a three-point percentage of 38.9%.

During his full tenure with the Trail Blazers, Grant averaged 20.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and shot 44.4% from three-point range.

Kris Murray

In the 2025-26 season, he played 57 games (15 starts), averaging 23.4 minutes, 5.8 points, and 3.6 rebounds per game.

In the 2023 NBA Draft, the Trail Blazers selected Kris Murray from the University of Iowa with the 23rd pick. Over his three-year tenure with Portland, he has played a total of 188 regular-season games.
