Five years! A full five-year absence! An Eastern Conference contender is interested in bringing back Westbrook.

Renowned reporter Stein reports:The Wizards intend to sign Westbrook this summer.

Westbrook played for the Wizards in the 20-21 season, which was his last prime. In the regular season, he averaged 22.2 points, 11.5 rebounds, 11.7 assists, and 1.4 steals per game, with shooting splits of 43.9%, 31.5%, and 65.6%. In the playoffs, he averaged 19 points, 10.4 rebounds, 11.8 assists, with shooting splits of 33.3%, 25%, and 79.1%.

Westbrook is now 37 years old. Last season, he played for the Kings on a veteran minimum contract, appearing in 64 games and starting 58, averaging 29 minutes per game while contributing 15.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 6.7 assists, and 1.3 steals, with shooting percentages of 42.7%, 33.8%, and 69.4%. He still has plenty left in the tank and is fully capable of serving as a super sixth man for any team.

The Wizards have two All-Stars in Trae Young and Anthony Davis, as well as the new No. 1 overall pick AJ Dybantsa. As a recognized dark horse in the East next season, they are expected to make a push for results. Therefore, they will continue to bolster their roster during this offseason, and signing Westbrook as mentioned above would be a very reasonable move.
