On July 1, Beijing time, per noted journalist Spears, insiders say the Washington Wizards are not looking to move 10-time NBA All-Star forward Anthony Davis and will ignore all trade proposals involving him. A team executive also noted that Wizards GM Will Dawkins is quite fond of Davis.

Davis has previously played for the Pelicans, Lakers, and Mavericks, and was traded to the Wizards at the February 2026 deadline. He has yet to appear in an official game for Washington.
Davis boasts impressive accolades: 10 NBA All-Star selections, the 2020 Lakers championship, the 2017 All-Star Game MVP, five All-NBA First Team honors, five All-Defensive Team selections, and a spot on the NBA 75th Anniversary Team. On the international stage, he achieved a basketball grand slam, winning an NCAA title, Olympic gold, and a FIBA World Cup championship. When healthy, he combines inside scoring, mid-range shooting, and elite rim protection. His career regular-season averages are 24.0 points and 10.7 rebounds per game. In the 2020 Finals, he delivered consistent performances to help the Lakers win the title, making him a rare two-way big man in the league. Last season with the Mavericks, he played only 20 games, averaging 20.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks—injuries have been an ongoing weakness in his career.

During the 2026 offseason, Davis was heavily linked to the Warriors in trade rumors. Reports indicate the Warriors planned a major move: sending Jimmy Butler and draft picks to acquire Davis, then signing LeBron James to form a championship-contending quartet of Curry, James, Davis, and Green. From a salary perspective, Butler's expiring contract matches Davis's salary for next season, making the trade feasible. The Warriors believed Davis would address their interior height and defensive deficiencies, replicating the power of the LeBron-Davis championship duo.
However, this trade appears unlikely to happen. Wizards GM Will Dawkins has stated the team has no intention of trading Davis and will ignore all offers, as he personally appreciates Davis. The team plans to discuss a contract extension with Davis in mid-August. Washington has already signed Trae Young to a max extension and drafted Cooper Flagg as the No. 1 pick, building a competitive Eastern Conference roster. They are unwilling to part with their core big man for Butler, who is recovering from a serious injury and whose condition is uncertain.
