In the first quarter, Zhao Jiwei attacked inside and out, scoring 5 straight points, while Li Hongquan's inside play was effective, giving China an 11-6 lead. Then Hu Jinqiu dominated in the paint, and Yang Hansen threw down a dunk, helping China maintain a steady advantage. They led 25-13 at the end of the period.
